The Balanced Dog Pack is run 24 hours a day - seven days a week by partners Lisa Porter & Meleana Zales, and by our dedicated and tireless pack-leaders and volunteers. We are wholly committed to the interpretation and modification of canine behaviors. Our methods developed from years of study and hands on experience in the dog community.
Our efforts are in hopes of setting an example of effective leadership that dogs and their owners can take with them through their lives. We both have worked and volunteered at dog rescues, kennels and training facilities, immersing ourselves in the lives of dogs on a daily basis. We supplement our hands on training with a wide variety of books and seminars from experts in the field. Dogs are our passion and their happiness and wellbeing is our ultimate mission.

------> Aly's dog Cocoa is 2nd dog from the left, sent to us for aggression issues.... From: Aly B Sent: Fri 9/26/08 8:42 PM To: Lisa Porter Re: Cocoa Pics "Lisa, this photo literally brings tears to my eyes! I can't explain how much this means to me! I was at the point of feeling like there was no hope for fixing Cocoa's aggression problems towards other dogs unless I magically ran across Cesar Millan one day (yea right)! It was such a blessing to come across your ad on craigslist. You are amazing, I am so impressed! I will never be able to thank you enough, Cocoa is like my son and this is such a gratifying moment for me! You are the best! Thank you again," Aly B., Schofield

At the end of May-we were coming home from the beach down past Makaha, Kaena Point... & as we were passing Makua Cave, what do we see, a brown skinny dog sticking out of the garbage bag.. We put the poor scrawny dog in the Kennel and took him to the Humane Society. Skip ahead to about a month later, we visit the HS and see him there, he has a name (Laddy) & he looks in pretty good condition except we noticed on the paper he was diagnosed with Heartworms infection BUT was on a special MAX Fund that would take care of the entire payment. Skip ahead another week - week & a half, on the night of 07-17 my mom gets the awful call. Apparently Laddy has pulled a Mike Tyson... He ripped off 1/4 of the ear on the dog next to him in his kennel so we are his last resort before they put him down...They give us overnight to think about it, if we take him or not..So I go on the web to a animal forum and I get a couple e-mails, and one stood out... Apparently he/she used The Balanced Dog Pack for their aggressive dog, so she recommended asking them. To our relief Lisa, the owner, was willing to take Laddy in. So it’s been, about 2-3 weeks Laddy's been there & we've been getting updates and such. We've visited Laddy once, about a week after them having him & let me tell you, Lisa is REALLY good. They say he hasn’t shown any aggression towards any of the dogs/puppies they have there, but they say cats is a no go... that his prey drive is high...Of course he loves humans, even though it’s obvious his previous owners neglected him. Laddy is still there, looking for a foster/adoptive home... But secretly, I hope they can just keep him. After seeing pictures & seeing what they do there, they seem like the best group of people for Laddy, & Laddy sure does love it there...I've just got to say, I love what The Balanced Dog Pack is all about... Lisa is one of the best people in my opinion... I could never do what they do & I’m grateful for what they do ( plus they seem very nice ). Stacy S. , Kapolei

Laddy was adopted and currently lives with his owner who loves him so much he takes him to work every day! He also has many doggie friends at his local dog park and his heartworm is cured.
Amazing, we took our Rottie Kekoa to Lisa for aggression training and socialization and he came back to me a different dog! He no longer lunges and snarls at every dog we encounter and I can take him to the dog park now without worrying about paying someones vet bills. We are so relieved! Now that they have started doing rehabilitative massage we can't wait to get our Kekoa a massage appointment! Lana G., Honolulu

My roommate and I took our pit mix to the BDP for their owner training and after the three sessions we definitely noticed remarkable changes in her demeanor and behavior towards our guests and friends....no more jumping, barking, digging or destruction. We are still working on her on-leash aggression but we feel totally confident now that we are on our way to a healthy happy pit bull! Lisa definitely made us feel empowered and she really was our last hope. We are so happy that we get to keep our girl as a part of our family now. Laura S., Kapolei
