Physical Release & Energy Draining Dogs have the physical ability to run well for short and long distances. They have been explorers for ages and with our leadership they can still enjoy one of their favorite daily pastimes. They must get some form of daily physical release to calm their mind and allow their body to be at rest. If not running, then some other form of "Leadership" (not play) exercise. Structure, Rules & Regulations: These should be thought of as a way to set boundaries, control your dog’s movements in and around the house and on walks, and lastly, provide mental stimulation to fulfill and satisfy the keen canine mind. If you feel unsure of what your dog’s boundaries should be, make a Rules & Regulations list, to visualize your training goals, and put it into action. REWARDS AND LOVE This is a great time for owner and dog alike! Another fun filled day with your friend has passed with time taken for physical exercise, rest, and mental stimulation. There is only one more element your dog needs to be happy and balanced……the love and affection of his pack leader.
YOUR OWNER'S GUIDE to a well-behaved and Balanced dog is YOU. Your dog or dog pack is looking to its leader (you) for guidance, food, shelter and companionship. It is the owner’s responsibility to fulfill these needs for their dog on a daily basis. As dogs are such clever animals and have such diverse personalities, we believe there are many successful dog training methods available for owners. At the Balanced Dog Pack we utilize our pack of dogs that have calm, positive behavior to influence others. We have also developed daily routines and controlled exercises as a guide for you and your dog to refer to along the way. In the next few paragraphs we will be introducing some new and some already familiar dog training concepts, presented with structure and our personal definitions.

Always remember to be Proactive with your training. Learn to know your dog’s \triggers and be ready to block them. Teach him the right response before he has a chance to do the wrong one. PLEASE repeat drills and exercises as many times as needed for your dog(s) to complete them with ease in a calm and focused manner. This may be a slower process for some dogs and patience is a very important part of the training process. Use their sense of smell to guide their nose into position and their body will usually follow. This technique used with treats is great for teaching basic commands like sit, down and come until only YOUR praise and approval is needed as a reward. We love to see calm, collected owners with an always watchful eye on their dog’s behavior. As a dog owner there are 5 things you should strive to always be: Firm, Consistent, Patient, Positive, and most important, Proactive! You are in control.
